Logan Bailey, Skyline
Hurdles / jumps / sprints
The junior placed third at the Class 3 State Championships in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Bailey was a Class 3 Northwest District Champion in both events, won a Region 3B title in the 110 hurdles and was part of the Hawks ‘4×100 relay that won district and regional titles and s’ is ranked second in the state.
James Bland, Center
The runner-up was a Class 3 Northwest District and Region 3B finalist in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Bland placed third in the 110 hurdles at the regional championships and qualified for state competition in that event.
Bronson Breen, Skyline
The junior was a finalist in the Northwest District and Region 3B in the 400-meter and was part of the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, both of which won district and regional titles. Breen also helped the 4×400 relay team secure second place in the state competition.
Zach Dysart, Center
The junior was the Northwest District champion in the shot put and discus, placed third in the shot put in the Region 3B competition, and won a medal at the Class 3 State Championships with a seventh place in the test.
William Fletcher, Sherando
The elder was a Class 4 Northwest District finalist in the shot put, placed fourth in the event at the Region 4C competition and won a medal with an eighth-place effort in the shooting at the Class 4 State Championships.
Marion Haley, Skyline
Sprints / jumps
The senior won the Northwest District and Region 3B titles in the 100-meters, was the district champion in the high jump and qualified for state competition in three individual events. Haley was also a successful 4×100 relay team for the Hawks.
Jamar Lonas, Stonewall Jackson
Hurdles / sprints
The junior was fourth in the 110 and 300 hurdles at the Region 2B competition and placed ninth in the 110 hurdles at the Class 2 State Championships, one spot short of a medal. Lonas also raced in the Generals’ 4×400 relay, third in the region and sixth in the state.
Logan Maiatico, Skyline
The senior competed in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, both of which have won championships at the Northwest District and Region 3B meets. Both relays also placed second at the Class 3 State Championships.
Kevin Mills, Skyline
The junior was the Northwest District 400-meter champion and missed state qualification in that event by a berth in the regional competition. Mills also participated in the Hawks 4×400 relay team.
William Smith, Horizon
Hurdles / sprints
The junior finished second in Region 3B in the 110-meter hurdles and missed a medal in the state competition for one place. Smith placed third at the regional championships in the 300 hurdles, ran in the 4×400 relay throughout the playoffs and in the 4×100 relay at the state competition.
Emil Stanford, County Warren
The freshman placed third at the Region 3B Championships in the 3,200-meter race and placed 10th in the event at the State Class 3 Championships. Stanford placed third in the Northwest District met in the 800s and 1600s and ranked fifth in the region in the 1600s.
Zach Wine, Stonewall Jackson
Mid-distance / jumps
The senior placed third at the Region 2B Championships in the 800 and missed out on a Class 2 State Championship medal by one spot. Wine was the District Bull Run triple jump champion and was part of the Generals 4×400 relay.
Steve Burton, Horizon
Coach of the Year
Burton guided the Hawks to a tag team title at the Class 3 Northwest District Championships and a second place finish at the Region 3B Championships. Skyline placed eighth at the Class 3 State Championships.
