Baylor Track and Field signs two more for fall 2021 autograph class

WACO, Texas – Baylor Track and Field has signed Aren Spencer and Victoria Adu for the Fall 2021 signing class, head coach Michael ford announced Monday.

“I am very happy that Aren and Vicki are joining our athletic family,” said Ford. “They both add depth to our jump and throw areas. Coach (Stacey) Smith and Coach (Jeff) Chakouian have done a great job of adding quality student-athletes to our team on and off the track. They both have the potential to help us at the conference and at the national level. “

Spencer comes to Waco and the Bears from Harrison College in Christ Church, Barbados. He was a member of the Barbados National Team and currently holds the record for competing at the Barbados National Championships with an Under-18 triple jump result of 14.21m (46ft 6in), set in 2019.

At the 2021 edition of the Barbados National Championships, he finished second in the men’s 400m. He also competed at the NSAF Outdoor National Championships in July, where he placed third in the boys’ triple jump.

“Aren is a special young man,” said Smith. “He will bring more depth to the men’s team, especially in the vaults. We look forward to him having an immediate impact on the team and are delighted that Aren is joining our Baylor family!”

Adu, from Berlin, Germany, moved to Texas after his first season with the Iowa Central Tritons, a junior college in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She is the reigning national hammer throw and shot put champion at the NJCAA National Indoor and Outdoor Championships, missing the NJCAA record by just 5.1 inches in the hammer throw. She also finished first in the varsity hammer throw competition at the 2021 Drake Relays.

“I am very happy that Vicki is joining the Baylor family,” said Chakouian. “During her visit, it was obvious that she fitted in perfectly with the team. She bonded really well with the pitchers and I can’t wait for her to practice with the squad. She is very talented and competes well in big competitions, but she is also a star person. Now is a great time to be a Baylor Bear, and we’re lucky to have it. “
