Cross Country to host the Dave Murray Invitational
TUCSON, Arizona – After two meetings on the road, the Arizona cross country will host its only home meeting of the season, the annual David Murray Invitational, Friday October 1 at Rolling Hills Golf Course.
The competition will start at 7:00 am with the women’s 6k followed by the men’s 8k at 7:45 am. Live results can be found here.
Before the start of the competition, the head coach Bernard Lagat will host an Arizona Cross Country Talk at 6:15 am. The event is ticketless and open to the public.
The trip to Tucson will be the State of Arizona, the Grand Canyon, the State of New Mexico and the State of San Diego.
Last time the women were third and the men were seventh out of 24 teams at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 18. Grace Driskill was the best on the women’s side, finishing third in the 6k with a time of 20: 28.4, good for a PR. Peyton heiden (20: 59.1), Maddy Christophe (21: 12,1), Meggie Karp (21: 43.7) and Megan Bounds (22: 45.9) also recorded personal bests, totaling five PRs for the women’s team which is now ranked 15th in the USTFCCA West Region standings. On the men’s side, Shem Kemboi crossed the finish line first with a 8 km time of 24: 35.2 and a 24th place finish. Timothy Kibet (25: 04.6), Jeffrey Sillers (25: 30.5) and Brandon Limits (26: 11.0) all finished with PRs.
