Cross Country wraps up regular season finale at Bradley Pink Classic – The Daily Egyptian

On Friday, the Saluki Cross Country Team traveled to Bradley University to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic. Both women’s and men’s teams competed. The men finished 15th out of 35 teams and the women finished 26th out of 38 teams.

The men’s team collected a total of 481 points with an average team time of 24:54.5 in the “red” race. Sophomore Dawson Smith shone with a 14th place overall and a time of 23:52.9. The rest of the team finished closer to 100.

Sophomore Uriah Guthrie finished in 95th place with a time of 24:57.9, senior Travis Hart finished in 112th place with a time of 25:07.3, and rookie Weston Jokerst n was not far behind in 117th place with a time of 25:10.5.

The women’s team finished with a total of 695 points and an average time of 22:35.4 in the women’s “red” race. Senior Leah Metzger led the way with a 77th place finish and a time of 21:53.7. Sophomore Stephanie Anthonyies came in 126th and a time of 22:20.1.

Rookie Tabitha Bevan and second Briana Nieset trail at 134th and 174th respectively. Bevan clocked 22:25.2 while Nieset finished with a time of 23:03.4. Sophomore Ansley Bailey trailed 10 places behind in 184th with a time of 23:14.7.

Both Saluki cross country teams will next compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 28, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Indiana.
