Family “in shock” after man accused of impregnating 13-year-old girl

A family is “still in shock” after a man was arrested for allegedly making a 13-year-old girl pregnant and trying to run her over with a car.

Eduardo G. Rubio, 26, was apprehended in Fayetteville, North Carolina on November 12 following an alleged violent assault on the girl, according to WRAL.

Rubio and the teenager allegedly had an altercation, the man allegedly strangled the girl until she passed out and attempted to hit her with a vehicle.

The girl, whose name has not been released to the public, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. An investigation reportedly revealed that Rubio injured the girl’s neck, face, shoulders, arms and knees.

It was also determined that the victim was four and a half months pregnant.

Rubio is now being held in Cumberland County Jail on bail set at just over $ 1 million, by Fox 13 in Memphis. He faces charges of statutory rape, attempted first degree murder, attempted murder of an unborn child, first degree kidnapping and three counts of assault by strangulation, according to the files of arrest.

Authorities first became interested in Rubio last week as they searched for the 13-year-old, who was missing at the time, Law & Crime reported. It’s unclear how long she’s been missing or what evidence pointed to Rubio. It was during this search that the Fayetteville Police Department received a call from the young girl found injured and unconscious.

The girl’s mother told WRAL that she had been in a relationship with Rubio for four years before this incident, but was unaware that her daughter was being abused.

The teenager reportedly told investigators Rubio had been abusing her for about two and a half years since she was 11.

The girl’s mother is also currently pregnant with Rubio’s child, according to WRAL.

Rubio was reportedly aware of the teenager’s pregnancy. In October, he allegedly used his own urine to fool a pregnancy test the victim received during a medical examination, Law & Crime reported.

News week contacted the Fayetteville Police Department for comment on this story.

In February 2019, a South Carolina minister, Phillip Jerard Buckson, admitted to raping and making a teenage girl pregnant. The victim said sex with Buckson started in 2015.

“The victim revealed that she had never had sex with anyone other than Buckson,” according to a police report provided to News week declared. “She revealed that as a result of this intercourse, she got pregnant twice. Each time, she revealed that she had had abortions to end the pregnancies.”
