Field hockey Super 6 finalists announced

It’s time to start announcing the fall winners for the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, starting with This weekof the Super 6 field hockey team.

All recipients are finalists to be named Captain – our Field Hockey Athlete of the Year.

Our top athletes in all 30 sports will be among the honors revealed at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, presented by Encova Insurance and in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine and Raising Cane’s. The site, time and date of the event will be announced shortly.

Below is the Super 6 for field hockey:

Emilie Barker

Emilie Barker

The school: Upper Arlington

Year: Junior

An All-State recipient in each of the past two seasons, Barker has 19 goals and four assists to lead the Golden Bears to the program’s first league championship.

UA went 13-4-1 overall and 8-0 in the COFHL-West Division. Barker was named to the league’s first team and has appeared in five games with three or more goals, including one in a playoff win over Worthington Kilbourne.

Grace Cantwell

The school: Watterson

Year: Senior

There were few players more explosive than Cantwell, a forward who helped the Eagles finish 20-0-1 and win their second straight State Championship.

Cantwell finished with 23 goals and 19 assists while earning COFHL East First Team All-Star honors as his team won the title at 8-0. She scored two goals in Watterson’s 3-0 win over Toledo Notre Dame in the state semifinals.

Ellie Conroy

Ellie Conroy

The school: Thomas worthington

Year: Senior

Conroy was the anchor of the defense for Thomas, who allowed just 45 shots on goal and 72 penalty corners as the Cardinals reached the state title game.

Conroy, who recorded 117 defensive interceptions, two goals and 12 assists, was a first-time All-State member and All-League first-team member as the Cardinals finished 17-3-1 in the total and 7-1 in the COFHL-Ouest.

Paige corneille

The school: New Albania

Year: Second year

Cornelius, a midfielder, scored 26 goals and nine assists to lead the Eagles to their third consecutive second-place district finish.

She scored six playoff goals and was named to the COFHL East and States First Team All-Star. She was also the only Ohioan to win an invitation to USA Field Hockey’s U16 Selection Camp in December.

Molly griffith

The school: Watterson

Year: Senior

With 5:29 left in the state championship game, this attacking midfielder scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot as Watterson beat Thomas Worthington 2-1.

Griffith finished with nine goals and 13 assists, including one goal in a 3-0 victory over Toledo Notre Dame in the state semifinals, and won COFHL East and All State honors for the second consecutive season. She also did the Super 6 as a junior.

Cora Hamilton

Cora Hamilton

The school: Thomas worthington

Year: Senior

Hamilton made the transition from defense to offense smoothly, registering 24 goals and 17 assists in his only season up front.

Hamilton was the only Ohio player named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s Center region team. She also received All State Honors for the third time and First Team Honors from All Leagues, with the Cardinals being state finalists.
