Gophers closes the regular season with Rocky’s Run

MINNEAPOLIS – The Gophers will have just one playoff ahead of them as the University of Minnesota cross-country program hosted its final regular-season meet of the season, Rocky’s Run, on Sunday afternoon at Les Bolstad Golf Course. . The 6 km open competition is held annually in memory of runner Gopher Rochelle “Rocky” Racette.
The top five female places belonged to Maroon and Gold, with Taylor kreitinger take the first place in a final time of 23:00. Liesl Paulsen came second in 23:21, followed by Taylor Crown (23:47), Maria rickman (24:05) and This Howes (25:27) from the third to the fifth, respectively.
The men were led by Emmet Anderson (UA) who won the crown in 19:16, followed by Leo Goodman (20:22) and Austin Street (21:02) who completed the first three.
Rocky’s Run was founded in 1981 to honor former runner Gopher Rochelle “Rocky” Racette, who died in a car crash at the age of 22. While at the University of Minnesota, Racette was an American athletics and cross country. country and 5000-meter champion Big Ten and Drake Relays. The annual race is hosted by the many members of the running community who have known and loved it. Racette’s legacy lives on through the memory of those who knew her, and through Rocky’s Run and the scholarship for which it raises funds.
The NCAA season is ahead for the Maroon and Gold, as the men’s and women’s teams travel to Iowa City, Iowa on Friday, November 12 for the NCAA Midwest Regionals. The University of Iowa will host the regional championships and host both races on the Ashton Cross Country Course. The women’s 6K will start at 11am CT, followed by the men’s 10K at noon.
