High school athletics: Wilkes, Grayson and Hill-Lewis win titles at Liberty | High school
LYNCHBURG – Carly Wilkes of Glenvar, Elliot Grayson of Radford and Armonte Hill-Lewis of Pulaski County won the individual titles on Saturday in the Liberty Premier Invitational indoor track competition at Liberty University.
Wilkes won the girls’ 3,200 meters in 10 minutes and 40.16 seconds. She was also second in the 1600 (5: 01.59).
Grayson won the boys’ high jump (6ft, 4in), while Hill-Lewis won the long jump (23-0).
William Fleming’s Micah Jones was second in 55 yards (6.44) and 55 hurdles (7.55).
Other efforts for second place included Brannon Adams of Jefferson Forest in the boys 1600 (4: 27.54), Diego Turner of Pulaski in the shot put (49-1 / 2), Lord Botetourt in the boys 800 relay (1 : 34.16), Zoie of JF Lamanna in the 1000m girls (2: 59.56) and Hannah Pettyjohn of JF in the high jump (5-2).
LEXINGTON – Conner Rutherford of Blacksburg and Kylie Cooper of Franklin County won gold on Saturday in the East Coast Elite indoor meet at VMI.
Rutherford won the boys ‘1600 in 4: 30.15, while Cooper won the girls’ 1000 in 3: 07.41.
Blacksburg won the relay titles in boys 1600 (3: 57.83) and girls 800 (1: 51.63).
