Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Wins 2021 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana- The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaching Association released its academic awards on Thursday, July 22. Providence College’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs have each won the 2021 USTFCCA NCAA Division I Academic Team Awards. Six brothers have also been individually recognized as USTFCCA College Team Laureates. .
To be considered, a program must have at least a team grade point average of 3.00. The men’s track and field program had a team GPA of 3.47 and the women’s program had a team GPA of 3.56.
Individually, graduate student AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.) And senior Marcelo rocha (Peabody, Mass.) Each claimed USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolades as members of the Providence College Men’s Track Team.
The Providence College women’s track and field team had four winners, one graduate student Abbey wheel (Elmira, NY), senior Maria coffin (Annapolis, Maryland) and sophomores Orla O’Connor (Waterford, Ireland) and Lilly tuck (Sunderland, Canada).
To qualify for the All-Academic USTFCCCA honors, the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
