Men’s Track and Field wraps up our busy weekend of competitions with a seventh-place finish at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (February 13, 2022) – The Denison University men’s track and field team sent athletes to compete in three different meets this weekend.

OPEN OWU: Denison participated in the 2022 Ohio Wesleyan Open on the night of Friday, February 11. Ari Skolnik won the preliminaries and the final of the 60 meters hurdles, Gabe Springer and Porter Fitzgerald went 1-2 in the shot put, and Springer also added a second-place finish in the shot put. Grant Plasch was sixth in the pole vault and ninth in the 200 meters, and Skolnik added an eighth place finish in the 60 meters.

  • Gabe Springer – second place in shot put – 12.67 meters (41’7″)
  • Porter Fitzgerald – second place in shot put – 11.71 meters (38’5″)
  • Grant Plasch – sixth place in the pole vault – 3.65 meters (11’11.75″)
  • Ari Skolnik – eighth place in the 60-meter sprint final – 7.30 seconds
  • Andrew Brown – eighth place in the 200 meters – 24.96 seconds
  • Ari Skolnik – ninth place in the 60 meter preliminaries – 7.28 seconds
  • Grant Plasch – ninth place in the 200 meters – 24.97 seconds

GREAT GVSU MEETING: In addition to Friday’s OWU Open, Denison also sent a distance runner Keanan Ginell at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan, to run the 5,000 meters, and Ginell finished 17th out of 34 runners in heat #4 with a time of 15:01.71.

ALL-OHIO INDOOR TRACKS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Then, on Saturday, Feb. 12, Denison placed seventh overall out of 18 teams with 35 points at the 2022 All-Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. Angelo Rici finished fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump and chris slater finished fifth in the shot put. In the relay races, Denison earned a third-place finish from her Distance Medley Relay team, a fifth-place finish from her 4×400-meter relay team, and a sixth-place finish from the 4×200-meter relay team.

FOLLOWING : The Big Red will be back in action on Saturday, February 19, when they travel to Springfield, Ohio to compete in the Wittenberg Invitational.
