Mischke hired to lead CSC’s athletics program

CHADRON, Neb. – August 10, 2022 – Chadron State College Athletic Director Joel R. Smith announced on Wednesday that Seth Mischke will take the reins of the Eagles athletics program as head coach.

“We are fortunate to have an experienced head coach in Seth,” Smith said, “as we prepare to host the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships and compete for the title. of the conference.”

Mischke has spent the past 11 seasons as head track coach and assistant cross country coach at Black Hills State University. There, his program includes two individual national champions, 18 All-America winners, 18 conference champions and more than 100 All-RMAC winners.

In 2012, Mischke also helped BHSU grow from the NAIA into one of the strongest conferences in NCAA Division II for track and field and cross country.

Prior to BHSU, he served as Head of Athletics and Cross Country for 12 years at St. Cloud State. Mischke was twice named Conference Coach of the Year with the Huskies, after his men’s teams finished fourth at the North Central Conference Indoor Championships in 2005 and runners-up at the Northern Sun Conference Meetup in 2011.

At St. Cloud, his program produced a national champion, 17 All-America winners and 21 conference champions.

Mischke graduated in 1997 from the University of Minnesota, where he was a Big Ten conference finalist in the indoor pole vault and finished third in the outdoor decathlon.

He and his wife Colleen have three children: Brooklyn, Tanner and Micah. Colleen was an administrator of the BHSU athletic department for 11 years and an outstanding heptathlete and high jumper at the University of Nebraska.

“I’m very excited to be the next head athletics coach at Chadron State,” Mischke said. “I can’t wait to start working with our staff and our student-athletes.”
