MSU inducts new members into Hall of Fame

The 2021 Michigan State Hall of Fame class was officially inducted on Friday, September 24. Franklin Gomez (wrestling), Anthony Hamm (men’s cross-country / track and field), Carol Hutchins (softball / women’s basketball), Lynn Janson (men’s golf), Elizabeth (Shimek) Moeggenberg (women’s basketball), Floor Rijpma (field hockey turf), Charles Rogers (football) and Ron Scott (hockey) have officially joined the newly renovated hall at Clara Bell Smith Center.

Each inductee posed for photos near their plaque, then received their athletic director’s award Alain haller. Following the induction ceremony, the celebration moved to the Izzo Hall of History at the Breslin Center where MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD and Haller addressed the assembly, followed by the speech by induction of each Hall of Famer.

The eight new members of the MSU Hall of Fame will be honored in Saturday’s football game against Nebraska.

The weekend celebration kicked off Thursday with the Spartan Varsity Letterjacket event. Last year’s winners of all varsity sports were presented with their vests by Haller and their respective head coach.
