NBA 2K23 Summer League: Wizards crush Warriors with 20-0 run

A dominating fourth quarter and strong shooting efforts from Jaime Echenique and Quenton Jackson led the Washington Wizards to an 87-77 win over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA 2K23 Summer League on Sunday night at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The Wizards came out of the gate appearing to have the Warriors’ number one, holding Golden State to just 11 points in the first quarter while building an eight-point lead. However, the tables were turned dramatically in a second quarter in which the Warriors enjoyed a 31-18 advantage. The Warriors kept their hot shot going through a third period in which they totaled 27 points and took an eight-point advantage in the final period, but Washington opened the fourth quarter on a torrid 20-0 run to put the side game for good.
Jackon led the Wizards with 18 points, adding three rebounds, an assist and three steals in 22 minutes off the bench. Echenique followed with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double that included two blocks and a steal. Devon Dotson provided 11 points and five assists, while Pat Spencer tied Dotson’s score and added seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Mac McClung led the Warriors with 14 points, rounding them out with six assists and three rebounds. Lester Quinones had 13 points, four rebounds and a steal. James Wiseman had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 19 minutes. Alex Morales had 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
Both teams have now finished the Summer League game, with the Wizards forging a 2-2 mark and the Warriors posting a 1-4 record.
