NFL Odds, Lines, Picks, Spreads, Best Bets, Predictions For Week 16, 2021: Model Loving Raiders, Texans
No NFL team has ever started a 1-7 season and then rebounded to advance to the playoffs, but the Miami Dolphins (7-7) are looking to make history. They’ve won six in a row and are just one game away from a Wild Card spot on the NFL Week 16 schedule. Miami will visit the Saints on Monday Night Football in a two-team clash currently outside of the NFL playoff photo. Caesars Sportsbook expects the Miami streak to end as the Saints are three-point favorites in the final NFL Week 16 odds.
Can Miami defy the odds and come closer to its first playoff appearance since 2016? Or should you be backing the Saints to cover one of the tightest gaps in the NFL after their historic exclusion of Tom Brady and the Buccaneers? All of the Week 16 NFL lines are listed below and SportsLine’s advanced computer model has all the NFL betting tips and predictions you need to make the best 16 NFL Week 16 picks now.
The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, has risen more than $ 7,000 per 100 players on the NFL’s top picks since its inception over six years ago. The model enters Week 16 of the 2021 season with an incredible 133-96 run on the NFL’s top picks stretching back to the 2017 season.
The model has also made the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on NFL direct picks and has beaten over 94% of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that time. Whoever followed him is very high.
Best NFL predictions of week 16
One of the model’s best picks for NFL Week 16 is for the Raiders (-1.5) to cover the spread against the Broncos. Las Vegas is coming out a short week after playing on Monday, but the Broncos could be without starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (concussion). Bridgewater didn’t set the world on fire with his game, but he was consistent and reliable.
Last season, Broncos quarterback Drew Lock had the lowest completion percentage in the NFL, which accelerated Denver’s need for a new QB. Lock also led the NFL in interceptions (15) despite ranking 20th in attempted pass attempts. The Raiders’ defense just picked up a road victory over another backup quarterback, Nick Mullens of the Browns. The Raiders have held Cleveland to just 236 total yards, which is the second smallest for the Browns all season.
The model provides for a one-dimensional attack for Denver, as Lock’s limitations prevent any Broncos receiver from going beyond 50 yards. Meanwhile, Derek Carr, who is second in the NFL for passing yards, is expected to throw nearly 300 yards as the Raiders sweep the seasonal series winning by five points. Thus, Las Vegas should be among the favorites by 1.5 points in more than 60% of the simulations.
Another of the model’s predictions for NFL Week 16: The Texans (+9) are covering at home against the Chargers. Houston is coming off his third win of the season, having easily managed a Jaguars team in the post-Urban Meyer era. As for the Chargers, they suffered an overtime loss to the Chiefs in which they also lost ATS.
Texans rookie QB Davis Mills has made progress since his re-entry into the starting lineup and is coming off two straight games with a passer rating over 90. The Texans’ running game is also expected to be successful against the LA defense as the Chargers rank in the last five in allowed rushing yards, allowed rushing touchdowns and allowed rushing yards. The Chargers also just finished a game in which they allowed 410 passing yards, more than 100 more yards than they allowed in any other game.
While the Chargers should win the game straight away, the model has it closer than the odds suggest. He has Houston (+9) losing by six points but covering well over 50% of the time. The model also indicates that the Over (46.5) reaches well over 50% of simulations.
