STAMFORD, Connecticut – July 13, 2022 – Peacock will present more than 65 hours of in-depth live coverage of the Oregon22 World Championships in Athletics from Hayward Field at the University of Oregon from Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 24. Coverage of the 10-day event – the first time the World Outdoor Championships will be held in the United States – begins tomorrow at noon ET on Peacock.

The peacock will broadcast everything Eugene’s competition sessions, including exclusive live primetime coverage Monday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 19 at 8 p.m. ET.

Peacock will present exclusive live coverage of the women’s 1500m, heptathlon, men’s high jump and women’s triple jump (July 18) as well as the men’s 400m hurdles, which is expected to feature a showdown between the gold medalist tokyo olympic Karsten Warholm of Norway and silver medalist at the Olympic Games in Tokyo Rai Benjaminand the men’s 1500m (July 19).

Additionally, Peacock will simulcast all coverage live on NBC. In order to provide coverage of all sessions throughout the World Championships, Peacock will use commentary from the World Feed from select competitions. The full simulcast of NBC, USA Network and CNBC programming will be available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app via authentication.

The Oregon22 World Championships in Athletics kicks off from Hayward Field at the University of Oregon Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 24 and will be featured on many of NBCUniversal’s networks and platforms. This will be the first time the World Outdoor Championships will be held in the United States and NBC Sports will use the NBC, Peacock, USA Network, CNBC and NBC Sports digital platforms to provide comprehensive coverage.

The world’s greatest track and field athletes will take part in the competition, which is expected to feature 37 reigning world champions and 37 US Olympic medalists. The headliner of the American contingent in Eugene is the most decorated track and field athlete in the history of the World Championships Allyson Felixgold medalist in the 400m hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics and current world record holder Sydney McLaughlinreigning world champion in the 200m and Olympic bronze medalist in the 200m in Tokyo Noah LylesTokyo Olympic 100m silver medalist Fred Kerleyand world record holder in the 200m under 20 Erryon Knightonamong a host of other Olympians.

The prestigious meet will be held at the University of Oregon’s iconic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, which reopened in 2021 after undergoing major renovations from 2018-2020 that cemented its status as one of the first athletics venues for international competition.

Nicknamed “TrackTown USA”, Eugene and the University of Oregon have hosted several US and NCAA Championship fixtures and Diamond League competitions, making it only fitting that it will host the first ever World Championships in outdoors in the United States, which was originally scheduled for 2021, but was delayed after the Tokyo Olympics were postponed to 2020.
