Crystal Wang | Senior, Women’s Golf | Major: Profession: Information Systems & Operations Management

Senior Crystal Wang was named Big Ten Conference Golfer of the Week (February 23) after posting one of the best individual performances in program history at the ICON Invitational. Wang tied for third after carding the lowest 54-hole tournament total in program history with a par 203 13-under. She opened the tournament by recording birdies on five of her first six holes with rounds of 68-71 to sit in fifth place at five under going into the final round. She then birdied on four of her first five holes on Tuesday and finished with eight on the day as she shot a par 64 eight-under on her final round, which also marked the lowest score in the history of the program. The senior led the field with 18 birdies in the tournament. Wang’s outstanding individual performance also helped Illinois finish second by team at the ICON Invitational as Illini recorded its lowest team 54-hole tournament score in program history with a total of 840 by 24 under par, while breaking his previous record for the lowest team round in program history with a 15-under 273.

Wang, of Diamond Bar, Calif., double majored in information systems and operations management from Geis College of Business.

She is the women’s golf representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee within the Intercollegiate Athletics Department.
