The Huskies will play a pair of Friday football games

University of Washington football games against UCLA and Oregon State will take place on Fridays this fall, likely for television programming purposes, the school announced Monday.

The Huskies meet the Bruins on Sept. 30 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., and host the Beavers on Nov. 4 at Husky Stadium. No network or kick off time has been released.

This year’s Apple Cup against Washington State, which for the past few seasons has been played on the Friday afternoon after Thanksgiving, will be held on Saturday, November 26 in Pullman.

Should the Huskies qualify for the Pac-12 Championship Game, that would involve another outing on Friday, Dec. 2 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Going further, if the UW were to qualify for the Rose Bowl game itself on New Years Day, that contest would fall on a Sunday in 2023.

The Huskies will open the season and the coaching era of Kalen DeBoer with four consecutive home games on Saturdays against Kent State on September 3, Portland State on September 10, Michigan State on September 17 and Stanford on September 24 before traveling to UCLA for this first Friday meeting.

None of the UW’s 12 scheduled games have set kickoff times or listed TV networks yet.
