Three ‘Running Man’ cast members test positive for COVID-19

Three cast members of a South Korean variety show Running Man have tested positive for COVID-19.

February 10, actor and regular Running Man actor Kim Jong-kook was the first to test positive for coronavirus, as announced by his agency Turbo JK Company, after experiencing “mild cold symptoms” the day before, as translated by Soompi.

Companion Running Man regular Yang Se-chan too tested positive for COVID-19 the same day, according to his agency SM C&C, despite “not currently showing any particular symptoms”. His SM C&C explained that after coming into close contact with someone else who had already tested positive, his first PCR test came back negative. However, Yang had entered self-quarantine and taken a second PCR test, which came back positive.

Since then, Ji Suk-jin also received a positive COVID-19 test result earlier today (February 11) after taking both a rapid antigen test and a PCR test, as reported star today. However, the entertainment personality’s record label Sky E&M said he “currently has no other symptoms apart from a mild headache”.

According to a report by MBN Star on February 10, a representative of the Running Man The production team had clarified that no filming was scheduled for next week, so there would be no changes to the show’s current broadcast schedule. All of its staff tested negative following the positive results for Kim and Yang.

The same report also clarified that the other regular cast members of the popular South Korean variety show – Yoo Jae-suk, HaHa, Jeon So-min and Song Ji-hyo – have so far tested negative for the virus.

A Running Man spin-off, titled Overtaken by the running man, premiered on Disney+ late last year and sees the return of Running Man mainstays HaHa, Kim Jong-kook, and Ji Suk-jin compete in a series of games and challenges that test their wits and agility. Watch the trailer here.
