Women’s athletics kicks off spring season at Snow Globe Open

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (January 15, 2022) – The Denison University women’s track and field team opened its 2022 schedule on Saturday as the Big Red competed in the 2022 Snow Globe Open held at the Clements Recreation Center in the ‘Otterbein University in Westerville.

The Big Reds began their day in the field events, where they complied with a first-place finish by Rainer Yager (9.94 meters) in the triple jump and a second place of Catherine Gagnier (3.27 meters) in the pole vault.

Rainer added an eighth place in the long jump at 4.45 meters while in the throwing events, Amy Pollack paced the Big Red with a seventh-place shot put at 9.91 yards and a 10th place shot put at 8.76 yards.

On the track, Cara Bodary (5:55.29 in the one-mile run), Sophia Ellerkman (1:05.19 in the 400 meters) and Julia Renetzky (12:29.52 in the 3,000 metres) each finished sixth in their respective events.



FOLLOWING : The Big Red will be back in action next Saturday, January 22, when they travel to the College of Wooster to compete in the Fighting Scots Invitational.
